İlker Aytürk lisans (1995) ve yüksek lisans (1997) derecelerini Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi’nden, ikinci bir yüksek lisans (2001) ve doktora (2005) derecesini ise Brandeis Üniversitesi’nden aldı. 2003 yılından bu yana Bilkent Üniversitesi Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü’nde çalışmaktadır. Araştırma alanları dil siyaseti, milliyetçilik, Türk siyasi tarihi ve uç sağ hareketlerdir. 2011-2012 akademik yılında Fulbright bursiyeri olarak Şikago Üniversitesi’nde, 2018’de misafir öğretim üyesi olarak EHESS’te bulundu. 2011 yılında TÜBA-GEBİP Ödülü’nü, 2016 yılında Bilkent Üniversitesi Eğitimde Üstün Başarı Ödülü’nü aldı. Makaleleri Birikim, Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies, Doğu Batı, European Journal of Turkish Studies, Insight Turkey, Journal of Contemporary History, Journal of World History, Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Middle East Journal, Middle Eastern Studies, New Perspectives on Turkey, Toplum ve Bilim, Turkish Studies, Varlık, Wiener Zeitschrift für die Kunde des Morgenlandes, Zeitschrift der deutschen morgenlaendischen Gesellschaft dergilerinde yayınlanmıştır. Ayrıca, Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics, Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World ve Encyclopedia of Hebrew Language and Linguistics’e de katkıda bulunmuştur.
Dr. İlker Aytürk (PhD, Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, Brandeis University, 2005) is currently associate professor of political science at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. Dr. Aytürk is broadly interested in right-wing politics and political history of the Middle East with special interest in Turkey and Israel. His articles appeared in Middle Eastern Studies, Journal of Contemporary History, Journal of World History, Turkish Studies, New Perspectives on Turkey, European Journal of Turkish Studies, Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies, Zeitschrift der deutschen morgenlaendischen Gesellschaft, and Wiener Zeitschrift für die Kunde des Morgenlandes. He has also contributed to the Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World and Encyclopedia of Hebrew Language and Linguistics. Dr. Aytürk was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Chicago in 2011, invited lecturer at EHESS in 2018 and received the Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
